Portugal is well known for its food and fine wine, miles of beautiful coastline, outstanding surf and superb golf courses.  A country full of unique landscapes and cultural experiences where you can take a cooking class, join a food tour, traditional Fado experiences, visit Unesco world heritage sites plus immerse yourself in natural parks, hikes and cycling adventures.

Lets start with Lisbon on the west of the country.  Ride tram 28 to see the city.  Visit Belem Tower and savor tasty pastries at Pasteis De Belem.  A Unesco site with stunning architecture is Jeromimos Monastery.  Saint George castle has some great city views and is rich with history.  Sintra, Cascais and Estoril are fairytale castles, charming towns and coastal beauty.  Explore traditions and customers in towns such as Fatima, Obidos and Nazare.  With dramatic views at the westernmost point Cabo Da Roca

Porto is on the north western coast.  This location offer the 6 bridges Duoro River Cruise, Port Wine Cellars, The Stock exchange is a historic palace,  Livararia Lello & Irmao is an iconic bookstore.  Breathtaking panoramic views of the city can be found at Jardins Do Palacio De Cristal.  Marvel at Baroque architecture visting Torre Dos Clerigos.

The Douro Valley is best visited between April and November.  In this area you can enjoy wine tasting, join grape harvests, explore wine villages, or take a historical train ride from Regua to Tua.

The Alentejo region covers most of the country and enjoys hiking through scenic natural landscapes, ancient megalithic complex's built between the 6th and 3rd millenium BC, some of the best wine tasting is in this area, traditional cooking classes and historic towns.

Algarve is along the southern most point, dramatic cliffs and rugged coastlines, lighthouses and coastal villages offer a taste of local life.

Maderia while not attached to the main line is part of Portugal.  You can visit here comfortably all year round.  Offering Hiking, 4x4 adventure tours, Dolphin and Whale watching, volcanic pools and an enchanted forest at Fanal.

The Azores are a string of islands.  Here are some of Europes oldest tea estates.  You can relax in hot springs, hike, visit volcanic caves and geothermal wonders to name just a few activities
